Honthorst acquired by Centraal Museum Utrecht ahead of Exhibition

News has arrived that the Centraal Museum Utretcht have acquired Gerard van Honthorst's The ecstasy of Mary Magdalene. The work was acquired with assistance from the John & Marine van Vlissingen Art Foundation. Painted in Rome between 1618-20, it was acquired in anticipation of the museum's upcoming exhibition Gerard van Honthorst – Different to Rembrandt which opens on 25th April and will run until 13th September 2026. Lucky visitors to TEFAF in Maastricht this year will get a chance to preview the work at the fair later in March.
