The Städel Museum in Frankfurt have announced their acquisition of Laurent de la Hyre's The Assumption of The Virgin. Completed between 1650 and 1655, the work relates to an altarpiece which has either disappeared or was never completed and takes great inspiration from Guido Reni who is well represented in the museum. The picture appears to have been sold at auction in France back in September 2017.
